Auro fitness app democratises personalised training

Auro, a London-based fitness tech start-up, has developed a motivational fitness app that delivers audible on-demand workouts and fitness classes.

Developed by a team of personal trainers, the classes, which can be carried out both inside or outside the gym, range from outdoor running, walking, treadmill, X-trainer, strength training, spinning, rowing, yoga and stretching.

Workouts are designed to be delivered audibly so that users don't get distracted by having to look down at a screen during their workout, although it does feature images and gifs to demonstrate the form and technique of a particular exercise.

In addition, Auro features patented AI-based algorithms that analyse multiple input streams in order to 'hyper-personalise' the experience.

Auro CEO and co-founder Anta Pattabiraman says: "There are 9.7 million gym members in the UK, yet only 250,000 use personal trainers because of the cost. Without personalised instruction, most people get demotivated and don't make the most of their gym membership/fitness schedule. I fundamentally believed that this could be changed. I wanted to make personalised instruction available to one and all."
